Pipe Cleaners: Part 2

Sup everyone!! Is everyone ok? Great! As am I, ta. Jumping right to it.. short piece again. My pipe cleaners were a success; my mum has been harassing me since to redo them instead of wearing my hair straight in my usual fashion. Typical lol I loved the volume they gave me to be honest. Certainly a one up from my braid out. It has been a great experience. One of the downsides was I struggled to put all those curls in a ponytail! When I did manage to get them in, it looked great. I wore it more on top of my head than at the back but I rocked either way. Another issue I had was that I found it difficult to keep my hair moisturised during the style. I wanted the curls to last as long as possible and hence did no misting as water would obviously cause them to drop. Result? Crunchy hair and a slightly techy scalp. My curls stayed in for about 3 weeks.. you guys know 10 days is my wash mark. In all, I enjoyed them. Definitely recommend you try them. Hopefully in the future I will try and style the curls more. Hit the jump for pictures!

Pipe Cleaner Curls, Part 1

Hey guys! What's crackalacking? LOL. Hope all is well with everyone. Getting straight down to business.. I finally managed to get pipe cleaner curls! Whoop! I was so happy peeps. If you remember my first attempt was last Christmas in Ghana. Didn't work out; I didn't have enough pipe cleaners plus I didn't leave them in long enough. I ended up with some extremely loose waves. My friends liked it at the time, I hated it. Fast forward to second attempt a few weeks ago. Wasn't even an attempt.. I started to put in the pipecleaners, got about a third of the way in and decided I couldn't be bothered. Started to take them out and my hair had done the same weird thing it had done the first time and wrapped down to the wire. Ended up ripping a bunch of them out. SMH. Queue the beginning of August. My friend from law school was getting married and since I'd just retwisted my hair a couple of weeks before, I decided to try the pipe cleaners again. RESULT!

Review: Root2Tip Triple M Miracle Moisture Milk

Hello hello hello everyone! How's it going? Everyone enjoying the summer? For once English weather has been behaving and we've had quite a bit of sun, albeit interrupted once in a while by the odd shower. My hair has been ok, not been doing much with it since my anniversary. This is because, I finally had successful pipe cleaner curls!! But, that's not what today's post is about. It's time for my long promised review of the Triple M Miracle Moisture Milk.

3 Years! Plus Two weeks lol

Hey hey everyone! Been a bit, apologies. Not much was going on and I wanted to wait till my anniversary plus until I got my retwist in. You know I had not retwisted since March! Shame on me, tsk tsk tsk. Anyway. Three years. Wow. Honestly, it's a bit surreal but also a bit bleh. Can't believe it's been three years since I combed through my hair. Can't believe I made it. I was so close to chopping it all off just a couple of weeks before the date. There was a pipe cleaner debacle (AGAIN!) that really upset me and nearly lead to me rocking a buzz cut. No joke, I was on a hunt for a pair of scissors; only nearly being late for work stopped me.

Curlvolution 2013!!

Hello hello hello!! How is everyone doing? Sorry I've been away, exams were kicking my butt lol. I'm done now though and I'm all yours! Bank holiday weekend was jam packed with natural hair events. Unfortunately I had an exam on May 31st so I had to pick just one to go to and Curlvolution was it! Being the broke sad student I am, I was hesitant to buy my ticket but this was an instance where procrastination paid off because I won a couple of tickets for myself and my sister, courtesy of ORS UK! Whoop!

My "concocted style"

Hi guys! Jumping right in.. Remember I told you about a style I came up with last December? It's time I showed you. It was an entry into a competition set up by my salon in Ghana, Twists and Locs as a run up to the bazaar/natural meet up. I didn't win lol but I got a result. I wore this to a family function another day and it was complimented by my mother and a few other relatives.

Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo Review

Hello all! Here is my long promised review of the Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo. Let's get to it! Ok so I bought this shampoo on the recommendation of Jungle Barbie who, in one of her blog posts and posts and a video, stated that she had achieved fantastic results with this shampoo.

2 Years, 9 Months..

Hello all! Just a quick update with what's up with my hair. Not much is going on really, I'm just keeping it moving you know? Like I said, I have found a few areas with thinning so I'm working on getting my hair back on track. JBCO, aloe vera juice, a new oil mix (ratio adjustment and addition of essential oils) and a new shampoo that's meant to be stimulating. Will update you on that as time goes on..

British Natural Hair Blogs

Hey guys! Ok for some reason I am getting pretty frustrated by the lack of UK based blogs dedicated to natural hair. I have encountered a few but out of those few, some of them have dropped off the radar. Even more frustrating? UK based blogs about traditional locs!! The little number of blogs about locs in the UK talk about Sisterlocks. Yeah. So, I'm making a list. Please feel free to comment to add any you recommend or find! This list will be updated as and when I find new ones

Braidout Galore!

Hi guys! Ok so it's not really a galore but hey, it's a style I have somewhat managed to perfect so get in! So, the first time I did a proper braid out on my mature locs was last November (?). I say a proper braid out because I attempted to do one for my sister's graduation last year but it didn't turn out very well. I assume it's because I only left the braids in for a few hours over night but hey, whatever. I find that braiding my locs is a tad difficult for me, seemingly due to the thickness of my locs. They are not particularly pliable if you catch my drift. I kept the braids in that time for about a week and a half? In an attempt to look like I had made some kind of effort, I basket weaved the front half instead of my regular half pony. My mum complimented it (in her own two by four way lol)! I liked it

Top. Not the greatest, I know but...

Happy New Year!

Hello lovlies! Happy new year!

I know it's a month late but.. hey. It came right? How is everyone? Good? Good! Hope every one's hair is on track, looking great and all that jazz. I am looking forward to this year; turned 23 yesterday (whoot whoot!) and I have some real plans for my hair. I have actually been doing stuff with it, but they've mostly been fails lol so I haven't bothered to torture you guys with them.
